Country Road
Almost heaven, West Virginia,
Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah River.
Life is old there, older than the trees,
Younger than the mountains, blowing like a breeze.
Country road, take me home
To the place I belong,
West Virginia, mountain momma,
Take me home, country road.
All my mem'ries gather 'round her,
Miner's lady, stranger to blue water.
Dark and dusty, painted on the sky,
Misty taste of moonshine, tear-drop in my eye.
Country road, take me home To the place I belong,
West Virginia, mountain momma,
Take me home, country road.
I hear her voice, in the morning hours she calls me,
The radio reminds me of my home far away.
And driving down the road I get the feeling
that I should have been home yesterday, yesterday.
Country road, take me home
To the place I belong,
West Virginia, mountain momma,
Take me home, country road.
Take me home, country road.
This is an American song--such an old country song .I have been loving it since I first time listened to it on the radio ,althought at that time I couldn't understand the singer--John Denver--at all.I had been wondering that was what a feeling if you leaving you hometown for many years where you had been living since you was born and cann't hear one word from your beloved father and mother.Of course ,I couldn't understand at that time because it was impossible for me to have such a similar experience with John Denver.
There is another person who told me he also liked this song very much. It's my English teacher who spended eight years in American because of study .He listened to this song over and over again during the eight years."Yes,I understand .I can understand that is what a feeling ."he said when talked about this song which was related to his experiences in American.
Several years later, when I listened to this song again after leaving hometown for NewYork,"yes,I can "is the first words came to my mind .I am sure I have understood John Denver completely now.Sometimes ,I was dreaming I am driving in my country road and can get my home soon...The river ,the mountain, the tree...everything is beautiful...

Yup, I'd say you understand that song pretty well!
Ok! Also listen "Englishman in New York" by Sting....
That's classic...I used to crazy about country music...Though I prefer Rock&Roll now, I still like this song...and "Don't cry for me,Argentina" is also a good one.
